Last month, I had the privilege of giving a guest lecture at Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Heidenheim, Germany on the crucial topic of “Leading with Emotions.”
In the lecture, we delved deep into the dynamics of rapid change and how our emotions can serve as a potent force for steering change, whether it’s in our personal lives, workplaces, or in broader society.
At the start of my presentation, I posed a thought-provoking question to the students:
In this era of exponential change, should we focus on predicting the future or dedicate our efforts to crafting a future that aligns with our aspirations?
From my experience, we humans are not very good at predicting the future. That’s why the alternative for me is much more appealing. That is, to envision a future we aspire to and then to pursue it. That could be a vision for your personal life, your company, your community or our society at large.
The ASPIRE Leadership-Model is designed with that intention. It focuses on practicing the essential emotions and behaviors that enable us to envision and create a future that aligns with our highest aspirations.
