Hello,
In this final Newsletter of 2024, I’d like to highlight a topic dear to my heart: health and well-being and its connection to leadership.
Did you know that, according to this SRHM mental health research initiative: 44% of people feel burned out at work. This report emphasizes the effect burnout can have on the performance of the organization. What this report ignores is the huge toll burnout has on a person’s health and well-being, and further the profound effect burnout can have on the person’s relationships at home.
In my experience in working with leaders, I have observed that people who are burned out at work don’t have the energy to be fully present and available in their relationships at home. This often creates a vicious cycle in which burnout at work affects one’s personal life and vice versa. Preventing this from ever starting would be ideal. However, short of that, it is imperative that people find a way to break this cycle when they find themselves in this all too common situation. This is critical for a person’s health and well-being, including the quality of a person’s most important relationships – family, partners and friends. People leaders can play a vital role in helping people to prevent burnout.
That’s why I really appreciated it when the Well-being Team at Beiersdorf in Hamburg invited me recently to speak about emotion-driven leadership and its positive impact on health and well-being. Here is some of the feedback I received on my keynote speech.
“Emotion-driven Leadership: A Game Changer for well-being.”
“Reiner’s inspiring keynote highlighted a transformative approach to leadership and well-being – one driven by emotions.”
“Reiner’s insights inspired us to embrace a new model of leadership—one that fosters trust, optimism, and emotional intelligence. This approach not only drives meaningful change but also promotes mental health and well-being.”

Hearing their feedback reminded me how one can use the holidays as an opportunity to reflect on a deeper way to improve health and well-being, both at work and at home. Practicing the seven emotions of the ASPIRE Leadership Model© offers such an approach.
In closing the year, I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your support. I extend my warmest wishes for a healthy and happy 2025, to you and your loved ones.
Warmly,
Reiner
2024 Highlights
- At the beginning of 2024, I dedicated time to personal renewal and professional development. During one of those opportunities, I had the pleasure to discuss with world-renowned researcher and bestselling author, Marcus Buckingham, our joint passion for helping people find work with purpose and which they love.

- In February, I enjoyed assisting the leadership of the University of South Carolina Upstate in finalizing their 2030 strategic plan, supporting a vision of an “education for all that inspires a thriving and just society.”
- In March, I had the honor to speak to an engaged audience at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta about the power of emotions in leading positive change.

- In April, ASPIRE was selected to be a “Finalist at the 2024 American Legacy Book Awards” in both, “Management & Leadership and Motivational categories”. I feel honored by this third book award for ASPIRE.

- In May, I had the privilege of giving a guest lecture at Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Heidenheim, Germany. We delved deep into the dynamics of rapid change and how our emotions can serve as a potent force for steering change, whether it’s in our personal lives, workplaces, or broader society.

- In June, Barbara Budrich (CEO of Verlag Barbara Budrich) and I discussed the topic of “Plötzlich in Führung”. For German speakers: Watch the video (1 hr) here: www.youtube.com/watch?
- In July, I explored the challenges faced by new managers and how to overcome them in an article on Medium. Read the article here: medium.com/@reiner.lomb/suddenly-leading-what-now
- Throughout the Summer, I had the pleasure to be a guest on a series of radio and podcast interviews, including:
- In August, I facilitated the Goethe Center Atlanta Strategic Planning Retreat. The Goethe Board, staff and members from the community all came together to create a new vision and strategic plan for the Goethe Center Atlanta.

- In September, I was honored to be selected as a recommended speaker by WPC Speakers Global. This is meaningful because it supports my mission to reach and mobilize more leaders that help create a positive future for all.

- In October, I was excited to see ASPIRE featured at the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2024. Thank you to my German Publisher, Verlag Barbara Budrich.

- In November, in addition to my keynote at Beiersdorf in Hamburg, I gave a Seminar (Fuehren mit Emotionen) at the IHK Fulda (Chamber of Commerce) to entrepreneurs and business leaders in my home town Fulda, Germany.

- In December, I’m closing the year 2024 with new contracts for 2025 from clients across the USA and Germany. Thank you to my clients for putting trust in me and my work in leadership development, innovation and transformational change.
