Hello,

In my work with organizational and community leaders, I’ve witnessed an alarming rise in stress and burnout both for leaders and the people they lead. This rising trend, which has been confirmed by numerous studies, concerns me deeply because I believe that it harms both leadership effectiveness and personal well-being. 

Today, I’m launching a series of short videos addressing this challenge, beginning with what I believe is the fundamental root cause. 

The Adaptability Gap

The core issue we face as humans is one of adaptability. While the world changes exponentially, our ability to adapt remains largely linear. 

Consider climate change: if these shifts occurred over 1,000 years, we would have more time to gradually develop solutions, adjust our infrastructure, and evolve our systems to accommodate these changes. But when compressed into 100 or just 50 years, our ability to adapt is overwhelmed. This principle applies equally to technological innovation (like AI), energy transitions, and societal pressures from mass migration. 

The problem isn’t the changes specifically — rather it’s the unprecedented speed of these changes that creates enormous stress. 

What This Means for Leaders

Whether you lead a company, team, community, or simply your own career path, you must now ask:

• How should I plan effectively in a rapidly changing world?
• Where should I focus resources and development?
• How do I ensure my skills remain relevant in the coming decade?

This isn’t just for those with leadership titles—it’s for everyone navigating today’s rapid changes.
