The Power of Trust

Trust is the foundation of every great team, relationship, and collaboration—yet it is one of the most overlooked leadership skills. Research shows that trust increases life satisfaction, reduces chronic stress, and drives organizational performance.

Collaboration is driven by trust. Without trust there is no effective collaboration. In this short video, I describe the four dimensions of trust—care, sincerity, competence, and reliability—and how leaders can apply these four questions to rebuild and deepen trust in any relationship:

  • 1) Do I trust that you care?
  • 2) Do I trust that you mean what you say?
  • 3) Do I trust that you are competent?
  • 4) Do I trust that you are reliable? which means that you show this competence day after day.

The ability to build trust can be learned, but we need to look deeper to understand what trust means in order to coach people and develop trust.
